Northern Exposure

One of my favorite all-time shows was Northern Exposure, set in Cicely, Alaska. The writing  was impeccable in the first two seasons, half of the third and then it sort of got weird for awhile. But the characters were all great: quirky, lonely, comic, ageless.

There were several favorite episodes, but my most favorite was Chris’ catapult and the time when he built the electric town. Both very memorable.

Yesterday, we went to Roslyn, WA where they filmed the exteriors of the show. There was The Brick and the storefront to Chris’ radio station, though nothing is there now. It’s a cool, little town, hit hard by the recession, but now struggling back just like every place else.
